Position Summary

The Lead Houseman is responsible for overseeing the setup, breakdown, organization, and maintenance of all event spaces at Anthology Events. Working closely with the Event Operations Manager, Banquet Captains, Culinary, and Sales teams, this role leads the Houseman team to ensure every event space is executed precisely according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), floor plans, and Anthology Events standards.

This is a hands-on leadership position that requires exceptional organization, physical stamina, and a commitment to delivering luxury guest experiences behind the scenes.

Essential Responsibilities

Event Operations

Lead all banquet and event room setups, flips, and breakdowns according to BEOs and floorplans.

Ensure event spaces are fully prepared prior to guest arrival, including tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, bars, linens, décor, signage, and specialty equipment.

Inspect each event space for cleanliness, functionality, and presentation before service begins.

Coordinate room transitions throughout the day while maintaining strict event timelines.

Respond quickly to last-minute event changes while maintaining high service standards.

Team Leadership

Supervise and lead Housemen during daily operations.

Delegate assignments and prioritize workloads based on event schedules.

Train new Housemen on proper setup procedures, safety standards, equipment handling, and service expectations.

Foster a positive, collaborative team environment with accountability and urgency.

Facility & Equipment

Maintain banquet storage rooms, loading areas, furniture inventory, and equipment in an organized condition.

Ensure tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, and banquet equipment are properly stored and maintained.

Report maintenance issues or damaged equipment promptly.

Assist with inventory counts and replacement recommendations.

Cross-Department Collaboration

Partner closely with Event Operations, Culinary, Sales, and Banquet Service teams to ensure seamless event execution.

Participate in daily event meetings and review BEOs to anticipate operational needs.

Support banquet service teams during high-volume events as needed.

Safety & Standards

Maintain a safe working environment by following OSHA and company safety standards.

Properly operate carts, dollies, lifts, and other event equipment.

Follow all sanitation and cleanliness standards throughout banquet spaces.

Ensure emergency exits and service corridors remain clear at all times.

Qualifications

2+ years of banquet, hospitality, hotel, or event setup experience required.

Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.

Experience reading and executing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and event floorplans.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Ability to prioritize multiple events simultaneously.

Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.

Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight room flips.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.

Frequently push, pull, and move banquet equipment including tables, chairs, staging, and dance floors.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
