Business Analyst – Job Description
Position Overview
The Business Analyst (BA) is responsible for analyzing business needs, identifying process improvement opportunities, and translating requirements into clear functional specifications. The BA works closely with cross‑functional teams—product, technology, operations, and stakeholders—to ensure solutions align with business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Gathering & Analysis
Engage with stakeholders to understand business objectives and challenges
Conduct requirement‑gathering sessions, workshops, interviews, and surveys
Document detailed business, functional, and non-functional requirements
Create user stories, use cases, process flows, and requirement traceability matrices
- Process & Data Analysis
Analyze current business processes and identify gaps or inefficiencies
Conduct root-cause analysis and recommend process improvements
Work with data teams to interpret trends and performance insights
Develop dashboards, KPIs, and reporting frameworks when needed
- Solution Design & Documentation
Collaborate with product and technical teams to design optimal solutions
Prepare BRDs (Business Requirement Documents), FRDs (Functional Requirement Documents), and workflow diagrams
Validate solutions through user acceptance testing (UAT) planning & execution
Ensure alignment between business requirements and technical implementation
- Stakeholder Management
Act as a bridge between business teams and technical teams
Communicate requirements, updates, and project status clearly and consistently
Prioritize requirements based on business value and feasibility
- Project Support
Assist in project planning, scope definition, and timeline estimation
Monitor deliverables and ensure adherence to project deadlines
Provide post‑implementation support, training, and documentation
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of business analysis methodologies (Agile, Waterfall)
Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, MS Excel, Power BI, Visio, Tableau
Ability to create process maps, wireframes, and documentation
Basic SQL knowledge and data interpretation skills
Soft Skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities
Ability to work with cross-functional teams
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
2–6 years of experience as a Business Analyst (varies based on seniority level)
Experience in domain areas like Finance, E‑commerce, IT Services, Healthcare, or Telecom (optional/customizable)
Nice-to-Have
Certifications: CBAP, CCBA, Scrum Master, Product Owner
Experience with automation tools (RPA), cloud systems, or CRM platforms
Exposure to data analytics or statistical modeling
