Import Operator

Location : Felixstowe Working pattern: Permanent, full time About the role George Baker Shipping is a logistics company with a team of freight brokers who manage shipping and freight operations. We are looking for a reliable, organised Import Operator to join our Felixstowe team. This is a good opportunity if you want to start and build a career in customs. You will help prepare and process customs declarations, work with customers and suppliers, and make sure shipments are cleared accurately and efficiently. What you'll be doing Preparing and processing customs clearance documentation

Assisting with import customs declarations

Checking invoices, packing lists and other shipping documents

Entering and maintaining accurate information on internal systems

Liaising with customers, hauliers, freight forwarders and other parties

Monitoring shipments and providing updates where required

Following customs procedures and company processes

Answering queries by email and telephone

Keeping accurate records and filing documentation

Working closely with colleagues to process shipments efficiently

Keeping up to date with customs procedures and requirements, with training and guidance provided

What you'll bring Proven experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel

An organised, accurate and detail-oriented approach

Clear communication by telephone and email

The ability to manage your workload and meet deadlines

A reliable, professional attitude and a willingness to learn

Team spirit and a positive outlook

Customs clearance or freight forwarding experience is an advantage but not essential, as training and support are provided

Office or administration experience is also advantageous
