BIM Mechanical Engineer

We are hiring on behalf of one of our clients a mechanical engineer to join our team. This is a full-time job opportunity for someone who is proactive, organized, and passionate about delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced business environment.

About the role

As a mechanical engineer at Talent 360, you will be responsible for modeling and coordinating HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems to fabrication and installation level. You will ensure that all mechanical models and technical documentation are accurate, coordinated, and aligned with project requirements, while supporting efficient installation and construction processes. You will also be responsible for delivering verified as-built mechanical documentation with complete and accurate asset data.

Key responsibilities

Develop the mechanical model from LOD 300 to LOD 400 covering HVAC (ducting, piping, chilled water, VRF, ventilation), plumbing, domestic water, drainage and firefighting

Model ductwork to fabrication standard using real fabrication parts: gauges, seams, joints, flanges, transitions, takeoffs, fire dampers, volume control dampers, flexible connections, insulation thickness and hanger/support systems

Model pipework with actual fittings, valves, flanges, unions, strainers, expansion joints, anchors, guides, insulation and pipe supports

Model equipment — AHUs, FCUs, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, tanks, boilers, fire pumps — with correct dimensions, service and pull-out clearances, vibration isolation and access routes

Produce mechanical shop drawings: duct and pipe layouts with levels and dimensions, riser diagrams, equipment room layouts, plant room sections, hanger and support details, penetration details

Perform duct sizing, pipe sizing and pressure drop verification; confirm the modelled system matches design calculations

Coordinate sleeves, penetrations, plinths, drainage falls and fire-stopping with structural and architectural teams; issue BWIC requirements

Maintain correct gravity drainage slopes and invert levels in the model; verify against site conditions

Lead mechanical clash detection and resolution; own the coordinated ceiling void and plant room zoning strategy

Generate spool drawings and prefabrication deliverables for off-site assembly where applicable

Extract quantities for duct area, pipe lengths, fittings, valves, insulation and equipment for BOQ and procurement

Update families to reflect approved manufacturer submittals and re-verify coordination after substitutions

Deliver LOD 500 as-built models with field-verified routing, installed equipment data, serial numbers, TAB and commissioning results, and O&M linkage

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in the relevant engineering or architecture discipline

5–8 years in mechanical BIM with fabrication-level ducting and piping

Working knowledge of ISO 19650 (Parts 1 & 2), BEP, MIDP/TIDP, CDE workflows

Autodesk Revit (advanced), Navisworks Manage, AutoCAD

Autodesk Forma for Construction — formerly Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), and before that BIM 360. Candidates with experience on any of the three names have the relevant skill; the platform, workflows and data are unchanged

Clash detection, clash matrix management, and issue resolution tracking

Custom family creation and parameter management; Dynamo scripting is an advantage

Ability to read and interpret contract documents, specifications, and consultant drawings

Technical office experience: shop drawings, material submittals, BOQ / quantity take-off, RFIs, as-built documentation

Professional syndicate / engineering board registration where applicable

English proficiency for technical correspondence

Prefabrication and modular plant room experience

Knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA and local civil defence requirements

Experience in hospitals, hotels or high-rise residential
