Linear And Pivot System Technician

Responsibilities

Operate and supervise the performance of pivot and linear irrigation systems.

Perform regular inspections of irrigation equipment to detect and address potential issues.

Carry out preventive maintenance tasks, including lubrication, cleaning, and part replacements.

Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with irrigation systems, including both electrical and mechanical components, such as tower/span alignment, guidance alignment, and communication between the control boxes of the machine and pump for linear or center pivot machines. This also includes working with tower and motor electrical boxes, collector rings, manual panel configurations, and using tools like multimeters and pentameters.

Repair or replace faulty parts and components, ensuring proper system functionality. This may involve tasks such as adjusting U-joints, U pipes, and drop hoses, recognizing sprinkler nozzle colors for specific applications, and performing gear oil changes.

Monitor and adjust irrigation schedules based on weather, soil moisture, and crop needs using automation boxes, advanced websites, and mobile devices.

Ensure compliance with water usage regulations and environmental guidelines.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and water usage data.

Work closely with farm management and agronomists to enhance irrigation efficiency and maximize crop yields.

Uphold a safe working environment and follow company safety protocols.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or diploma in a related field.

4-5 years of experience in a similar role.

Proven experience as an irrigation systems technician or in a comparable position.

Proficiency in operating and maintaining pivot and linear irrigation systems.

Strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

Expertise in irrigation scheduling and water management practices.

Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.

Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.

Physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions.

Certification or training in irrigation systems maintenance is preferred.

Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
