JOB PURPOSE

The role of the SAT Invigilator is to ensure that assessments are conducted according to the required regulations. This includes:

  • making sure that all candidates have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities
  • ensuring the security of the examination materials before, during and after each examination
  • preventing possible candidate malpractice
  • preventing possible administrative failures

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Experience of invigilation is not required as training in the role and duties of an invigilator will be provided Invigilators are required to:

  • declare if they have invigilated previously and whether they have any current invigilation maladministration/malpractice sanctions applied to them
  • confirm their availability in advance of the main examination periods

Invigilators must confirm that the confidentiality and security requirements surrounding the invigilation process are known, understood and are followed at all times An ideal candidate will:

  • be reliable, flexible and readily available during exam periods (23/08;13/09;04/10; 08/11;06/12 14/03;02/05;06/06 - dates to be confirmed every year)
  • have effective communication skills and good interpersonal skills
  • work well as part of a team
  • be confident and a reassuring presence to candidates in examination rooms
  • be able to give instructions and manage situations involving different groups of people
  • have basic IT skills (e.g, familiar with the use of emails, mobile phone messaging)
  • seek to achieve competence in the role and a rigorous understanding of the examination board regulations

Main Duties

To conduct examinations in accordance with the College Board and Aiglon’s own regulations and instructions. To have a key role in upholding the integrity and security of the external examination/assessment process.

Before Examinations

  • Report to and be briefed by the SAT Coordinator prior to each exam session
  • Ensure examination rooms are set up according to the requirements
  • Admit candidates into examination rooms under formal conditions
  • Give full attention to conducting the examinations properly
  • Identify candidates and seat candidates according to the required arrangements
  • Distribute the correct examination materials to candidates
  • Instruct candidates in the conduct of their exams
  • Manage and deal with candidate questions
  • Start examinations

During Examinations

  • Supervise and observe candidates at all times and be vigilant throughout examinations
  • Keep disruption in examination rooms to a minimum
  • Deal with emergencies or irregularities effectively
  • Record/report any incidents, disruption or irregularities
  • Deal with candidate questions according to the regulations

After Examinations

  • Instruct candidates in finishing their examinations and collect examination scripts
  • Dismiss candidates from the examination room
  • Check candidates’ names on scripts, match the details on the attendance register
  • Securely return all examination scripts and materials to the SAT Coordinator

OTHER TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take part in online invigilator training when required
  • Undertake any other tasks which may be reasonably required by the SAT Coordinator to assist in the smooth running of examinations
  • Understand and implement all school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding children and young people
  • Understand the School’s Guiding Principles and uphold the ethos of the School at all times
