Section I: Job summary

The QC inspector – structural performs inspection and testing of structural steel fabrication and erection activities to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes and standards.

Section II: Job analysis

Duties & responsibilities

Perform in-process and final inspections on structural steel fabrication and erection works.

Witness structural bolting, welding, and alignment checks per the ITP.

Verify structural steel installation against approved drawings, erection plans, and tolerances.

Verify materials (structural steel, bolts, coatings) against material certificates and specifications.

Record inspection results and raise non-conformance reports as required.

Coordinate hold points and inspections with client/third-party inspectors.

Maintain inspection records, checklists, and daily QC reports.

Verify calibration status of measuring and test equipment used on site.

Support punch-list generation and verification of closure for structural works.

Ensure work fronts comply with approved method statements and structural codes (AISC, etc.).

Support preparation of quality documentation for structural handover dossiers.

Section V: Required experience and education

Experience

5–8 years of experience as a QC inspector on structural steel construction projects.

Education

Diploma or bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering.

QC/inspection certification preferred.
