Lab Specialist

Job Aim The Lab Specialist will be responsible for supporting laboratory activities by preparing and maintaining laboratory equipment, materials, and chemicals, providing technical support during laboratory sessions, and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety procedures. Key Responsibilities Assemble, calibrate, and operate common laboratory equipment such as pH meters, balances, and other laboratory instruments.

Prepare, test, and distribute laboratory chemicals, materials, and equipment in advance according to the laboratory syllabus.

Assist lab instructors, teaching assistants, and students during laboratory sessions by providing technical support.

Check and test laboratory equipment prior to use.

Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Collect and dispose of hazardous waste materials in accordance with Zewail City regulations.

Participate in the proper storage of laboratory equipment and materials.

Prepare and follow up on orders for laboratory materials, equipment, and chemicals.

Maintain an updated inventory of chemicals and laboratory equipment.

Ensure compliance with laboratory safety precautions and procedures.

Perform other duties related to laboratory operations as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in Science, Chemistry, or a relevant discipline .

Strong analytical, observational, and time-management skills.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Good understanding of laboratory safety procedures.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Flexible and open to learning new skills and taking on new responsibilities

Previous laboratory experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
