PMC Engineer (Communication Instrumentation And Control)
Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced PMC engineer (commissioning instrumentation & control) with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry for ADNOC onshore client to be based in Abu Dhabi within our oil, gas & new energies business.
Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be based at onshore site in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The role
Responsible for providing PMC technical supervision and assurance for instrumentation & control (I&C) pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and handover activities. The engineer will monitor EPC contractor performance and ensure all activities comply with ADNOC requirements, approved project specifications, international standards, HSE requirements and the approved commissioning strategy.

Key responsibilities
Review and approve EPC contractor commissioning procedures, method statements, test packs and inspection/test records
Monitor I&C construction completion, mechanical completion, system/subsystem readiness and commissioning status
Coordinate and supervise electrical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including:
HV/MV/LV switchgear
Transformers
MCCs
Motors and VFDs
UPS and DC systems
Generators
Protection and control systems
Earthing and lightning protection
Electrical cables and termination
Coordinate and supervise instrumentation and control commissioning, including:
Field instruments and transmitters
Control valves and actuators
Instrument calibration
Loop checking
DCS/PLC systems
ESD/SIS systems
Fire & gas systems
SCADA and package interfaces
Cause & effect and logic testing
Review SLDs, schematics, P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, I/O lists, logic diagrams and cause & effect charts
Witness FAT, SAT, site testing, functional testing and integrated system testing
Coordinate with EPC contractor, construction, operations, vendors and commissioning teams to resolve technical issues
Monitor energization activities and ensure approved energization procedures and safety requirements are followed
Review and close commissioning punch items and ensure proper categorization and prioritization
Monitor system completion and turnover documentation, including MC/RFC/RFSU dossiers
Ensure all commissioning records, test results, calibration certificates and as-built documents are complete
Support troubleshooting during commissioning and start-up
Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, SIMOPS, operational readiness and commissioning readiness reviews where required
Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, project specifications, IEC, IEEE, ISA, NFPA and applicable hazardous-area requirements

Expected
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, instrumentation & control engineering, electronics engineering or equivalent
Relevant professional certification is an advantage
Strong knowledge of oil & gas I&C commissioning practices
ADNOC project experience is highly preferred
