ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (CIVIL)
About the Position: Serves as the Engineering Technician with the US Army Corps of Engineer, Louisville District, Operations Division, with duty station of Louisville, Kentucky or Falls of Rough, Kentucky. Major duties
- Serve as Operations Division liaison on dam safety modification projects, ensuring Operation and Maintenance requirements inform planning, design, construction, and commissioning.
- Review plans, specifications, submittals, and RFIs to verify construction products meet contract requirements and are operable and maintainable.
- Coordinates commissioning, operational procedures, training, maintenance data, Operation and Maintenance manuals, safety plans, and facility transition activities.
- Perform technical inspections and condition assessments of navigation and flood risk management facilities, identifying deficiencies and potential repair methods.
- Prepare or reviews scopes, specifications, estimates, and contract documentation for Operation and Maintenance service, supply, maintenance, repair, and construction projects.
- Coordinate recreation, natural-resource, and cultural-resource considerations with construction activities to protect public safety and long-term resource-management objectives.
- Provide field technical guidance, maintains project records, and conducts after-action reviews to improve project planning, execution, and contract administration.

Basic Requirement for Engineering Technician (Civil) GS-12 Level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service that includes: supporting the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance, inspection, or rehabilitation of civil works infrastructure, such as dams, navigation facilities, flood risk management facilities, or related systems; reviewing or preparing scopes of work, plans, specifications, technical submittals, cost estimates, or contract documentation for maintenance, repair, or construction work; performing or supporting facility inspections, condition assessments, quality-assurance activities, or analysis of infrastructure deficiencies; and coordinating with engineers, project managers, construction personnel, and operations staff to ensure projects are safe, operable, maintainable, and ready for transition to service. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
