Registered School Counsellor (Yishun)

Roles & Responsibilities

We are looking for a qualified and compassionate School Counsellor to support the mental health, clinical case management, and social-emotional development of student adolescents at a secondary school in Yishun.

• Responsive Clinical Services: Conduct individualized intake assessments, ongoing therapeutic counselling, and targeted group therapy interventions for students. Formulate evidence-based care plans, log comprehensive case consultation records, and deliver immediate crisis intervention during critical events.
• Stakeholder Consultation: Facilitate multidisciplinary case conferences with teachers, school leaders, parents, and external healthcare professionals or community agencies. Partner closely with families and conduct supportive home visits when clinically indicated.
• Preventive Programmes: Design, develop, and run small and large-scale psycho-educational workshops for students on building healthy coping strategies and resilience. Curate up-to-date mental health toolkits and resources for the wider school community.
• Systems Support: Provide expert updates to school management regarding student tracking progress. Plan and lead mental health literacy or first-line intervention training workshops for teachers and parents.

Working Hours

Mondays to Thursdays: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Includes a 1-hour lunch break).

Note: This is a 4-day compressed work week structure. Service is strictly not required on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, gazetted public holidays, and the entire month of June.

Job Requirements

• Education: Minimum Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counselling from a recognized institution, along with relevant professional counseling practicum accreditations.
• Experience: Proven experience in clinical counseling, psychology, or social work, specifically dealing with adolescents and youth in a school system or community youth-at-risk environment.
• Core Skills: Strong risk assessment, triage, clinical formulation, and ethical case management capabilities.Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and multi-agency networking skills.Highly organized, meticulous with data documentation, and capable of prioritizing heavy casework.Sound clinical judgement, absolute discretion, and deep sensitivity toward student confidentiality regulations.
