Mechanical Product Design Engineer Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Location: Columbus, OH Starting Salary:$60,000/year (Compensation may be higher based on experience.) Position Overview We are seeking a Mechanical Product Design Engineer to support the design and development of power distribution and power protection equipment. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys product development, mechanical design, prototype testing, and working with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative manufacturing solutions. The successful candidate will contribute to both new product development and improvements to existing products while ensuring designs meet quality, safety, and customer requirements.

Responsibilities Develop mechanical designs and engineering documentation for new and enhanced power protection products.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver quality designs on schedule and in line with project requirements.

Participate in design reviews and verification activities; evaluate feedback and make required design changes.

Design and release mechanical prototypes and support prototype fabrication and subsequent improvements.

Independently manage smaller engineering projects and coordinate activities needed to meet project requirements.

Work with production, supply chain, service, and other teams to ensure designs support overall business needs.

Support product customization, lifecycle management, ECN, and product optimization activities.

Required Qualifications B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.

2+ years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of power protection equipment and the data center market.

Understanding of electrical safety standards, including UL and IEC, and their application to products.

2+ years of experience using SolidWorks CAD software, including thermal and structural evaluation.

Experience with PLM software.

Knowledge of sheet metal design, detail part drawings, assembly drawings, and design for manufacturing.

Experience with test fixture design.

Experience with Switchboards, Power Distribution Units, UL 891, and UL 508 panels.

Strong technical writing, written communication, and verbal communication skills.

Collaborative, solution-focused approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a team environment.
