mould maker - plastics processing

Education:

Registered Apprenticeship certificate. Machine tool technology/machinist. Tool and die technology/technician. or equivalent experience.

Work site environment:

Noisy.

Work setting:

Relocation costs not covered by employer. Metal product fabrication industry.

Tasks:

• Compute dimensions, sizes, shapes and tolerances of workpieces .
• Inspect final products.
• Set up machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders.
• Test prototypes and production tools.
• Verify machined parts for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
• Program CNC machine tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications.
• Set up and operate electrical discharge machines (EDM).
• Lay out, shape and assemble patterns of metal, wood, plastic and other materials from blueprints, models or templates.
• Position, secure, measure and work metal stock or castings to lay out for machining.
• Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools.

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses :

• Tool and Die Maker Trade Certification.
• Mould Maker Trade Certification.
• Tool and Die Maker Red Seal Certificate.

Computer and technology knowledge:

AutoCAD.

Metal mould-making experience:

Injection moulds.

Patternmaking experience:

Plastics patternmaking.

Tool and die fabrication experience:

• Gauge blocks.
• Jigs and fixtures.

Transportation/travel information:

• Valid driver's licence.
• Own transportation.
• Willing to travel.

Work conditions and physical capabilities:
