Healthcare Assistant

Responsibilities:

Assist patients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding where necessary. Measure and record patients' vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, and blood glucose (where trained). Assist nurses and doctors during examinations, treatments, and minor procedures. Prepare patients for consultations, investigations, and medical procedures. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of patient care areas and medical equipment. Ensure proper infection prevention and control practices are followed. Assist with patient mobility, transfers, and transportation within the facility. Observe patients' conditions and promptly report any changes to the supervising healthcare professional. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation. Support health education and wellness promotion activities. Manage medical supplies and report stock shortages. Provide compassionate care while maintaining patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality. Perform other duties assigned by the supervising nurse or healthcare manager.

Requirements:

Minimum of a Diploma or Certificate in Healthcare Assistance, Community Health, Nursing Assistant, or a related healthcare field. Relevant certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or First Aid is an added advantage. Previous experience in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare facility is an advantage. Basic knowledge of patient care and infection prevention practices. Ability to use basic medical equipment. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Physical fitness to assist with patient care activities.
