Accountabilities The Space Systems Engineer will be responsible for architecting, designing, integrating, and supporting advanced satellite and space system solutions. The role requires strong technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to guide complex engineering efforts from initial concepts through successful mission execution.

Lead subsystem, satellite, and constellation design activities, including development, integration planning, technical coordination, and execution.

Perform mission and system design activities throughout the complete lifecycle, from proposal development and requirements definition to launch and operational phases.

Prepare and lead technical reviews, bid responses, engineering presentations, and project documentation.

Analyze complex engineering challenges, define technical objectives, and develop innovative solutions for current and future space applications.

Resolve hardware and software interface challenges by defining system requirements, input/output parameters, and integration approaches.

Support satellite system testing through configuration development, procedure reviews, and execution activities.

Collaborate with customers, suppliers, government stakeholders, and technical specialists to ensure successful program delivery.

Apply systems engineering methodologies, including requirements management, architecture development, modeling, simulation, and trade studies.

Support mission operations planning and contribute to successful on-orbit performance.

Requirements

The ideal candidate brings strong aerospace engineering expertise, experience with spacecraft systems, and the ability to operate in complex technical environments. They should combine analytical skills with effective communication and collaboration abilities.

Bachelor’s degree in Satellite Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.

5+ years of experience in space vehicle, spacecraft, or payload design and development.

Experience architecting, designing, developing, and deploying satellites, payloads, communication subsystems, and TT&C data networks.

Strong understanding of at least one spacecraft subsystem, such as communications, power, attitude determination and control, or related technologies.

Experience with model-based systems engineering techniques, requirements generation, and requirements management.

Knowledge of space environments, spacecraft design methodologies, mechanical design principles, and system packaging.

Ability to lead technical trade studies and develop solutions for complex engineering problems.

Experience taking spacecraft concepts through the complete systems engineering process, from design through operational deployment.

Strong analytical and mathematical background with experience in system modeling, simulation, and analysis.

Experience with orbital analysis and spacecraft simulation tools such as STK, FreeFlyer, or equivalent platforms.

Background in systems, software, or test engineering with experience in design and implementation.

Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance and maintain U.S. Citizenship requirements.

Ability to travel up to 10%.

Preferred qualifications include:

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience with Low Earth Orbit (LEO) operations.

Experience leading interdisciplinary teams across engineering, software, RF systems, FPGA design, and business functions.

Strong technical knowledge of RF systems, including radar, electronic warfare, or communications technologies.

Experience leading spacecraft missions from initial concepts through on-orbit operations.
