Accountabilities:
The Level 2 Virtualization Engineer will provide operational and technical support for virtualization platforms, ensuring system stability while contributing to improvements, automation initiatives, and infrastructure optimization. The role requires strong troubleshooting skills, collaboration with engineering teams, and a proactive approach to maintaining reliable environments.
Provide Level 2 support for VMware and/or OpenShift Virtualization platforms.
Troubleshoot incidents and technical issues across VMware vSphere, vCenter, and equivalent virtualization environments.
Support the design, implementation, and improvement of virtualization solutions.
Monitor platform performance, capacity, availability, and overall system health.
Identify opportunities to optimize virtualization environments and implement improvements.
Collaborate with Level 3 engineers and other IT teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours operational support when required.
Contribute to infrastructure automation initiatives using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar technologies.
Support reliable system operations by following best practices for monitoring, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience supporting virtualization platforms, strong troubleshooting abilities, and an understanding of modern infrastructure technologies. They should be comfortable working collaboratively, taking ownership of technical challenges, and contributing to automation and operational improvements.
2+ years of professional experience working with VMware virtualization or OpenShift Virtualization.
Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere, vCenter, or comparable OpenShift virtualization components.
Understanding of storage and networking concepts within virtualized environments.
Experience troubleshooting virtualization platforms and resolving infrastructure issues.
Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
Knowledge of Veeam or similar backup technologies is preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively in English; German language skills are a plus.
Strong ownership mindset with the ability to manage tasks from identification through resolution.
Ability to simplify complex problems, prioritize effectively, and adapt in a fast-changing technical environment.
