- Read blueprints and instructions to assess surface conditions and determine necessary painting work
- Build scaffolding and cover fixtures to prepare job sites safely
- Prepare walls and surfaces by scraping, sanding, and removing old paint to ensure proper adhesion
- Fill cracks and holes with appropriate materials such as plaster to create smooth surfaces
- Mix paint and materials accurately to achieve the specified color and texture
- Apply paint, varnish, and finishes using brushes, caulking guns, and other tools according to instructions
- Calculate job costs and negotiate prices with clients to ensure project profitability
- Follow all health and safety precautions to maintain a safe work environment
- Work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and public holidays as required
