Project Mechanical Engineer
Responsibilities:
Installation & Commissioning: Supervise and execute the mechanical installation, precision leveling, and geometric alignment of high-speed can-forming and decoration equipment. Utilities Infrastructure Management: Oversee the setup of plant auxiliary utilities, including compressed air networks, HVAC systems, water treatment plants, and gas piping. Vendor Coordination: Direct OEM installation teams and mechanical sub-contractors during the assembly and dry-run phases of the project. Design Validation: Review P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams), mechanical drawings, and equipment layouts to identify and eliminate potential operational bottlenecks before installation. Safety & Compliance: Guarantee that all mechanical installations meet global manufacturing safety standards and environmental regulations. Alignment & Precision Engineering: Ensure high-accuracy alignment of production lines, conveyors, shafts, and mechanical assemblies to meet OEM tolerances and performance requirements. Maintenance Strategy Input: Contribute to the development of preventive and predictive maintenance frameworks for installed mechanical systems. Energy & Efficiency Optimisation: Identify opportunities to improve mechanical system efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and enhance equipment lifecycle performance. Interface Management: Coordinate with civil, electrical, automation, and process engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of all plant systems. Problem Diagnosis & Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve mechanical failures installation defects, and performance issues during installation and commissioning phases. Technical Documentation Management: Review and approve method statements, technical submittals, as-built drawings, and commissioning reports. Integrated Management System: Documents, implements, and maintains the requirements of the Quality, Food Safety, Environment, Health, and Safety management systems.
Requirements:
A minimum of an HND in mechanical engineering or a related discipline. COREN registration or equivalent professional association is required. Minimum of 8 years’ experience in equipment installation, plant piping, and utility setups within high-speed manufacturing environments (FMCG, packaging, or heavy industry).
