This role places you at the heart of a mission-driven team providing primary and outpatient care to Native communities across three clinic sites — Crownpoint Healthcare Facility, Thoreau Health Center, and Pueblo Pintado Health Center. You will bring skilled, culturally aware nursing care to patients who depend on these facilities as their primary access to healthcare.

  • Provide direct ambulatory and outpatient nursing care to a diverse patient population, including triage, assessment, treatment, and patient education
  • Perform clinical evaluations and nursing interventions in accordance with established standards of practice, facility protocols, and applicable state and federal regulations
  • Document patient encounters, nursing assessments, and care outcomes accurately and in a timely manner using facility health information systems
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary care teams — including physicians, specialists, and support staff — to ensure continuity and quality of patient care
  • Apply culturally sensitive practices that reflect respect for American Indian and Alaska Native traditions, values, and healthcare perspectives
  • Adhere to infection control procedures, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and all patient safety standards
  • Participate in orientation activities and remain current with facility policies, Joint Commission standards, CMS requirements, and AAAHC guidelines

What sets candidates apart:

  • Prior experience providing nursing care in an Indian Health Service, tribal health, or Federally Qualified Health Center setting
  • Familiarity with Navajo culture, history, or language, and demonstrated ability to deliver culturally aware patient care
  • Experience in ambulatory, outpatient, or community health nursing environments
  • Working knowledge of Joint Commission (TJC), CMS, or AAAHC accreditation standards in a clinical setting
  • Experience practicing in rural or frontier healthcare environments with limited specialist support
