Our users are navigating a maze. From the initial job search to hitting 'submit' on an application, they're met with complexity, stress, and often, an opaque process. AIApply aims to cut through that, making the path to employment smoother and more transparent. We've built intelligent tools to automate applications, optimize resumes, and prepare candidates for interviews. Now, we're looking for a UX Designer to join our product team and help us refine these experiences, turning frustration into delight.

This isn't about making incremental tweaks to existing features; it's about deeply understanding the core challenges our users face and designing elegant, intuitive solutions that scale. You'll be instrumental in shaping how millions of job seekers interact with our platform, from the moment they first discover us to the celebration of landing their dream job. We've seen tremendous growth, and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on people's lives is immense.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll spend your days working closely with product managers, engineers, and other designers, translating complex problems into clear, compelling user experiences. This means diving deep into user research, understanding pain points in the application process, and then mapping out user flows that guide them efficiently through our system. For example, how do we make the AI resume optimization process feel less like a black box and more like a helpful co-pilot? Or how do we present the results of our ATS compatibility checker in a way that's immediately actionable?

You'll be sketching, wireframing, and building prototypes using Figma, iterating rapidly based on feedback from both internal stakeholders and, crucially, our users. A significant part of your role will involve designing and maintaining components within our growing design system, ensuring consistency and efficiency across the product. We believe a strong design system is key to maintaining quality as we scale. You'll be a champion for interaction design best practices, ensuring our interfaces are not just functional but also engaging and delightful to use.

Early Days and Beyond

In your first few months, you'll be embedded within one of our core product teams, likely focusing on either the application automation or resume optimization suite. You'll get up to speed by shadowing user research sessions, reviewing existing product analytics, and collaborating directly with engineers to understand current technical constraints and opportunities. Expect to quickly take ownership of specific features, from initial concept to launch, and then beyond into ongoing iteration based on performance and user feedback. We value proactive thinking and a bias towards action.

Why This Role Now

AIApply is at a critical juncture. We've proven product-market fit, and our user base is expanding rapidly. As we scale, the complexity of our product naturally increases. This role exists to ensure that our user experience remains best-in-class, even as we add more powerful AI features and integrate with a wider array of external systems (like various ATS platforms). We need someone who can not only design beautiful interfaces but also think strategically about how to solve complex user problems in an AI-powered product environment. Your expertise in usability testing will be vital in validating our design choices and ensuring we're truly meeting user needs.

Our Design Philosophy

We believe in a lean, iterative design process. We move fast, but we also move thoughtfully. We embrace feedback as a gift and see every design as a hypothesis to be tested. We're a remote-first team spread across the US, so clear communication, proactive sharing of work, and a commitment to asynchronous collaboration are essential. You'll be working closely with a small, focused team, where your contributions will be highly visible and directly impactful.

Working With Us

You'll report directly to our Head of Product Design, and work alongside other designers, product managers, and a dedicated engineering pod. We foster a culture of open discussion, mutual respect, and continuous learning. We regularly conduct design critiques, share best practices, and allocate time for professional development. We're all passionate about solving real problems for real people, and we believe that great design is a cornerstone of our success.

Our Hiring Process

Our process is designed to be thorough yet respectful of your time. It typically involves an initial screening call with a recruiter, followed by a conversation with the hiring manager to discuss your experience and fit. Next, you'll complete a practical design exercise (no take-home tests that consume your weekend – we aim for something you can do within a few hours or during a dedicated interview slot) and then present your solution to a panel of team members. Finally, you'll have a few targeted conversations with key stakeholders you'd be collaborating with daily. We aim for transparency and provide feedback at each stage.
