Wood is seeking an experienced PMC construction engineer - piping with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry for an ADNOC onshore client to be based in Abu Dhabi within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business.
Due to the nature of the projects and client expectations, the position will be based at an onshore site in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

To oversee and coordinate piping construction activities on behalf of the Project Management Consultant (PMC), ensuring that all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, quality standards, schedule requirements, and applicable codes and regulations.

Key responsibilities
Monitor and supervise piping construction activities performed by EPC contractors
Ensure piping installation is carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, procedures, and project requirements
Review construction work packs, method statements, and risk assessments
Verify contractor compliance with project HSE requirements and permit-to-work systems
Coordinate piping activities with civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and commissioning teams
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards such as:
ASME B31.3
ASME Section IX
API standards
Project specifications and procedures
Monitor welding, NDT, hydrotesting, flushing, reinstatement, and mechanical completion activities
Participate in inspections and witness critical construction activities
Review and close punch-list items related to piping systems
Monitor contractor productivity and construction progress
Identify potential delays and recommend corrective actions
Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly progress meetings
Review contractor schedules and work plans
Promote a strong safety culture across all construction activities
Conduct site safety inspections and participate in toolbox talks
Ensure compliance with project HSE procedures and local regulations
Support incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, QA/QC, commissioning, and operations teams
Resolve construction-related technical issues in coordination with engineering disciplines
Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
Prepare daily and weekly construction reports
Review contractor reports and progress updates
Maintain records of inspections, testing, and construction activities
Track and report construction KPIs

Expected:
Minimum 10–15 years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, or energy projects
Minimum 5 years in PMC or owner's engineer roles
Extensive experience in onshore facilities and offplot infrastructure projects
Proven experience in piping construction, testing, and mechanical completion
Experience working on large EPC/PMC projects in the Middle East preferred
