Purpose of the job / project Help design and deliver the data infrastructure that Luxembourg and its European partners rely on for secure, lawful access to sensitive data. You will work alongside senior architects on real systems with real deadlines and take on your own architectural scope as you go. This is a fixed-term position of 24 months, created to meet a sustained increase in architecture work across our EU project portfolio. You will work on one or more projects from that portfolio — currently including STORE-1PLUSMG, USE-1PLUSMG, SCAILED, the European Compliance Stack, DDSSC2, COOPAIFA and PANDAI — with assignments set by portfolio priorities and evolving as projects start and close.

We are looking for a Solution Architect to help design and deliver secure, large-scale data infrastructure, working alongside our senior architects. You will consolidate functional and non-functional requirements from data providers and partner organisations and translate them into architecture documentation. You will contribute to the specification, configuration, integration, and technical validation of the components behind our data services. Working with community  frameworks such as Gaia-X, IDSA and DSSC, you will help build the data solutions our partners across Europe depend on.

What you will do Architecture design and documentation Learn and deliver the core architecture artefacts, starting from established LNDS patterns and templates, and taking on more of the design work as your experience grows. Maintain the architecture documentation set across assigned projects — keeping it current, internally consistent and ready for formal review. Several projects require successive versioned releases approved at fixed milestones. Requirements and analysis Support senior architects in gathering and documenting functional and non-functional requirements from data providers, partner organisations and internal stakeholders. Analyse and document business constraints. Implementation support Work with engineering and operations colleagues to turn architecture into working systems. Support the specification, configuration, and integration of components. Support technical validation and acceptance activities, including preparing test scenarios and evidence. Standards, compliance and quality Learn, adopt and apply LNDS architectural standards, patterns and review practices consistently, and flag where they do not fit. Support the implementation of technical and organisational measures under Data Protection by Design and Default, working with Legal and data governance colleagues. Project and consortium contribution Contribute to project deliverables and milestones, tracking your own commitments and raising slippage early. Support proposal preparation with technical input and effort estimation.

Who you are BSc or MSc in a scientific, technological or engineering discipline related to computer science, information technology or computing. 1-2 years working explicitly as a solution or enterprise architect on large-scale or federated data systems. Working knowledge of distributed systems, APIs and integration patterns, databases, and data modelling. Exposure with cloud or container platforms, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD pipelines. Foundational understanding of information security, authentication and authorisation, encryption, and network segmentation. Able to write clear technical documentation and produce readable diagrams. Awareness of GDPR and the broader EU data regulatory landscape. Familiarity with agile delivery practices. Excellent communication skills in English. Working knowledge of one of Luxembourg's official languages (French, German or Luxembourgish) is a plus. Curious, methodical, and comfortable speaking when you do not understand something. Willingness to learn architectural concepts and methods, and to develop your information security and regulatory knowledge seriously. Collaborative, adaptable, and able to work effectively in a cross-functional and multicultural environment. Interest in health data, genomics, data spaces or public sector data infrastructure. Prior experience in EU-funded projects is a plus.
