About the Opportunity: Senior Accountant, Revenue Accounting
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong Senior Accountant to support the revenue accounting function. This role will focus on executing core revenue processes, ensuring compliance with ASC 606, and partnering cross-functionally to support accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis. This role will apply technical accounting guidance across an expanding portfolio of products (SaaS) and professional services revenue streams. In this role, the Senior Accountant will report directly to the Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Close & Reporting
Support month-end close activities related to revenue accounting, including:
Preparation of revenue journal entries in accordance with US GAAP and applicable revenue recognition guidelines and procedures
Reconcile revenue related accounts, including deferred revenue, unbilled revenue and accrued revenue
Assist with investigation and resolution of revenue discrepancies, billing issues and account variances as needed
Support of monthly and quarterly reporting with fluctuation analysis and supporting schedules
Ensure accuracy and completeness of revenue reporting in accordance with GAAP (ASC 606)
Revenue Recognition & Technical Accounting
Apply ASC 606 guidance to standard and moderately complex customer arrangements
Assist in documenting revenue recognition conclusions and maintaining supporting documentation
Support updates to accounting policies and procedures as new products or services are introduced
Participate in the development and enhancement of revenue accounting policies, controls and procedures
Contract Review & Deal Support
Partner with Sales, Deal Desk, and Legal to review customer contracts for revenue recognition impacts
Identify non-standard terms and escalate to management with recommended accounting treatment
Operational Support & Process Improvement
Identify opportunities and assist in improving efficiency and accuracy of the revenue close process
Support system enhancements and process standardization across quote-to-cash
Contribute to documentation of key controls and procedures
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Billing Operations, RevOps, and FP&A to ensure alignment across revenue-related processes
Support audit requests by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred
Minimum of 3+ years of revenue accounting experience is required
Public accounting experience preferred
Minimum of 2 years experience with SaaS and/or professional services revenue models
Familiarity with quote-to-cash processes and revenue systems (e.g., NetSuite; Salesforce a plus)
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Effective communication and collaboration across teams
Process-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
