Cyber Claims Specialist - Cyber Insurance
Accountabilities Manage a growing portfolio of primarily first-party cyber insurance claims, supporting the full adjudication process from first notice of loss through resolution, with increasing independence as experience develops.
Complete a structured onboarding and training program, working under the guidance of experienced claims professionals before progressing to independent file management.
Analyze policy coverage, assess claim circumstances, and prepare clear, accurate, and well-reasoned coverage letters and customer correspondence.
Develop practical knowledge of both primary and excess insurance claims, including the coverage considerations and processes associated with each.
Work directly with policyholders and brokers to understand claim needs, communicate decisions, and achieve fair, timely, and effective outcomes.
Coordinate with external legal counsel and specialist service providers, including digital forensics and incident response firms, to help customers respond efficiently to cyber incidents.
Collaborate with Operations colleagues to maintain efficient claims administration, accurate records, and reliable claims data.
Analyze claims portfolio performance, identify emerging trends, and communicate relevant insights to support informed business decisions.
Provide claims-related input on policy wording and tailored client solutions, helping improve coverage clarity and the customer experience.
Partner with Actuarial, Finance, Risk Management, Underwriting, and Product teams to share claims insights and support effective client and risk management.
Represent the organization at industry conferences, client events, and professional association activities as experience and expertise grow.
Maintain strong responsiveness, sound judgment, and professional communication throughout the claims process, particularly when handling time-sensitive or high-pressure situations.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with a bachelor's degree specifically identified as the preferred formal qualification for this position.
Approximately 1–5 years of relevant professional experience in claims, insurance, legal services, or a related field.
Strong commitment to customer service, with the responsiveness and professionalism needed to support customers during stressful cyber incidents.
Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to draft clear, precise, and well-supported coverage letters and other formal correspondence.
Strong verbal and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate confidently and empathetically by phone or video, including in challenging situations.
Sound analytical judgment and the ability to evaluate coverage issues, assess information, and make well-reasoned decisions.
Strong negotiation, influencing, organization, and task management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Composure under pressure, dependability, integrity, accountability, and a willingness to take ownership of work.
A proactive, self-directed approach to learning, including the ability to seek feedback, adapt quickly, and succeed in a fast-paced, high-performing environment.
Ability to work effectively in a fully remote setting while maintaining focus, productivity, collaboration, and consistent communication.
Willingness to obtain the required insurance adjuster licenses, with support provided by the organization.
Preferred qualifications:
Previous claims handling experience or familiarity with insurance products and claims processes.
A legal background, including a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree or paralegal experience.
Technical familiarity relevant to cybersecurity, incident response, or digital forensics.
Strong project management capabilities and a goal-oriented approach to delivering results.
Willingness to travel up to approximately 10% for business needs, industry events, and client or professional engagements.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the role, including extended periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, and occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be available for individuals with disabilities.
