Founding Engineer
Waniwani builds the infrastructure that distributes insurance and banking products through AI assistants, the new front door to how customers find and buy. We raised an $8M seed led by Seedcamp and work with large European banks and insurers. We have real enterprise customers, a clear roadmap, and more to build than our small team can ship alone.
Why this role exists: we need more engineering throughput on the core platform, with real ownership, so we ship faster without the founders sitting in the middle of every build. Today the tech team is three engineers plus Max, our co-founder and CTO. You would be one of the first dedicated engineering hires, with outsized ownership from day one.
What you'll do in your first year:
- Own and ship core platform surfaces end to end, from scoping to production.
- Work across the stack on an AI-native product built on the MCP and agent ecosystem.
- Raise the engineering bar with patterns and practices the team adopts.
- Move fast in a small team, shipping iteratively with high ownership.
What we're looking for:
- You are a strong full-stack product engineer (roughly 3-6 years) who has shipped features end to end.
- You are strong in TypeScript. Our stack is TypeScript end to end: Next.js, Drizzle ORM, React Query, PostgreSQL.
- You work well from a thin spec and build the right thing without hand-holding.
- AI is a core part of how you build: the bottleneck is judgment, not keystrokes. Fluency with tools like Claude Code or Codex is imperative.
- You have worked with agentic or MCP-based systems, or you ramp into new stacks fast.
- You learn a new, regulated domain quickly and you ship.
- Multi-tenant or systems-at-scale experience is a plus, not a requirement.
What this role is, and what it is not
- A core platform product engineering role. You write production code every day and own features end to end.
- Not a narrow-slice role. You will not be handed tightly specced tickets; you build the right thing from a thin spec.
- Not a place for perfectionism over shipping. We ship fast and iterate, cutting scope rather than dates.
