Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, manufacture, assemble, and repair punch dies for aluminum extrusions.
  • Manufacture tooling for punching holes, slots, notches, and other features in aluminum profiles.
  • Work from engineering drawings, blueprints, samples, or existing tooling.
  • Machine precision die components using manual lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and other shop equipment.
  • Perform precision fitting, alignment, assembly, and testing of punch dies.
  • Troubleshoot, modify, and improve existing tooling to increase production efficiency.
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial production machinery.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs.
  • Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, bearings, gears, shafts, and mechanical drive components.
  • Fabricate replacement parts and modify equipment as required.
  • Assist with machinery installations, adjustments, and rebuilds.

Requirements

The ideal candidate has strong experience in the design, manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and repair of punch dies used for aluminum extrusions and profiles.

In addition to tool and die manufacturing, the successful candidate should have solid mechanical troubleshooting abilities and traditional millwright skills to maintain, repair, and improve industrial production machinery.

We are looking for a versatile, old-school tradesperson who can build tooling from scratch, solve mechanical problems, and keep equipment operating efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on tool and die manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to build and manufacture punch dies from scratch is essential.
  • Experience with punching tools for aluminum extrusions or similar metal profiles strongly preferred.
  • Strong conventional machining and precision measurement skills.
  • Knowledge of industrial machinery maintenance and traditional millwright practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic machinery.
  • Welding and fabrication skills considered an asset.
  • Tool & Die Maker (430A) or Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A) certification considered an asset; equivalent practical experience will be considered.

Ideal Candidate We are looking for a highly skilled, mechanically minded individual who takes pride in their workmanship.

Someone who can take a drawing or sample, manufacture a complete punch die or manufacturing jig, assemble and test it, and make the necessary adjustments to ensure reliable production.

The ideal candidate will also be comfortable troubleshooting and repairing older industrial machinery using traditional mechanical and millwright techniques.

We value practical experience and proven ability over certifications alone.
