Data Cloud Engineer

About this vacancy

As a Data Cloud Engineer, you will ensure the stability and reliability of data‑related technologies running in a private cloud environment. You’ll work on databases, message brokers, and automation of data platform operations, enabling scalable, high‑availability services.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Operating, maintaining, and optimizing data technologies (PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, Kafka, etc.) in a private cloud environment.
• Automating deployment and operational tasks related to data pipelines and services.
• Implementing observability for monitoring performance, availability, and cost efficiency.
• Ensuring compliance, security, and standardization across data services.
• Collaborating with cross‑functional teams to operationalize new data technologies.
• Handling service requests, incidents, and problem follow‑up.

Contributing to documentation and knowledge sharing.

What we expect from you

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing databases or data services in enterprise private/hybrid cloud environments.
• Strong expertise with PostgreSQL, preferably extended with TimescaleDB.
• Experience with cloud‑native data technologies (Kafka ecosystem, Apicurio Registry, Spark, JupyterHub).
• Knowledge of Kubernetes operators (custom or standard).
• Experience with DevOps toolchains (Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD, GitLab CI/CD).
• Strong scripting skills (Shell, YAML, Python, Ansible).
• Good understanding of ITSM processes.
• Strong communication skills in English; Dutch/French/German is a plus.
