Mechanical Draftsman

Role Description The Mechanical Draftsman role is a full-time, on-site position based in Minya, Egypt. The Mechanical Draftsman will prepare detailed mechanical drawings and 2D/3D models for cement plant equipment, piping systems, structural supports, and related components using CAD software in accordance with engineering standards. Daily tasks include interpreting engineering sketches and specifications, updating and maintaining drawing records, and coordinating with mechanical engineers, maintenance teams, and project managers to ensure designs meet operational and safety requirements. The role also involves revising drawings based on feedback, assisting in the preparation of bill of materials, and supporting installation, fabrication, and maintenance activities with accurate technical documentation. The Mechanical Draftsman is expected to adhere to company quality procedures, contribute to continuous improvement of design practices, and meet project deadlines.

Qualifications Strong mechanical drafting and CAD skills (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar), with the ability to produce accurate 2D and 3D mechanical drawings.

Knowledge of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and industrial equipment, preferably within cement, heavy industry, or related sectors.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and standards, and translate them into clear, detailed layouts.

Familiarity with plant layout, piping and mechanical systems, and basic understanding of structural supports and material handling equipment.

Strong attention to detail, organization, and document control skills, including version management and proper filing of drawings.

Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with engineers, maintenance, and project teams in an on-site industrial environment.

Proficiency in basic MS Office tools and comfort with using ERP or maintenance management systems for documentation and reporting.

Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Drafting, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Previous experience as a mechanical draftsman or mechanical CAD technician in an industrial or manufacturing setting is highly beneficial.
