The Role

An established and growing manufacturing business in Bridgend is looking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Finance Assistant or Assistant Accountant who is looking to take the next step in their career , broaden their accounting experience and develop within a group manufacturing environment.

The business is currently undertaking an ERP system implementation , giving the successful candidate the opportunity to be involved in systems development, process improvements and the introduction of new reporting processes.

Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller , the role will provide exposure across financial reporting, month-end, stock analysis and operational finance.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting
• Assisting with month-end processes and balance sheet reconciliations
• Stock analysis and reconciliation , investigating variances and supporting accurate inventory reporting
• Analysing stock movements, production data and inventory levels
• Supporting month-end stock reporting and valuation
• Working with operational teams to investigate stock discrepancies and improve controls
• Preparing and analysing financial and operational reports
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
• Providing financial information and analysis to operational and management teams
• Supporting purchase and sales ledger activities where required
• Assisting with cashflow reporting and monitoring
• Working across multiple entities and sites within the wider group
• Supporting the ERP system implementation , including data, processes and reporting
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting
• Supporting the Group Financial Controller with ad hoc analysis and reporting

About You

We are looking for someone with experience within a finance or accounting environment who is now ready to progress into a broader Assistant Accountant position.

You may currently be working as a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or in a transactional finance role with some exposure to month-end, reconciliations, reporting or management accounting and be looking for a genuine step up.

Experience within manufacturing, engineering or another operational environment would be advantageous, particularly where you have had exposure to stock, inventory or production reporting.

Good Excel skills and an interest in ERP systems, process improvement and financial analysis would also be beneficial.
