Purpose: The Shift Lead supports the Production Manager in achieving daily production goals by ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality operations. Lead the shift team, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement.

Two Shift Openings - 1st Shift & 2nd Shift

Essential Duties and Requirements:

Machine Setup & Operation

Study blueprints, work orders, and specifications to determine proper machine setup.

Write, modify, and verify G-code programs as required.

Set up and operate machines, tooling, fixtures, and feeding devices according to specifications.

Verify measuring instruments (gauges, calipers, micrometers, etc.) are calibrated and functioning properly.

Perform tool changes and machine adjustments to maintain product quality.

Monitor machine performance, troubleshoot issues, and make minor repairs as needed.

Perform routine machine maintenance according to manufacturer guidelines.

Initiate procurement of spare parts when necessary.

Production & Shift Support

Assign and support Operators to machines based on qualifications, workload, and production needs.

Instruct Production Operators on setup requirements, production orders, and standard work.

Serve as the first point of contact for Operators with machine setup, process, or technical questions.

Monitor production throughout the shift, minimizing downtime to ensure production targets are met

Escalate production, quality, staffing, or safety concerns to the Production Manager as needed.

Quality & Documentation

Verify machine performance and product quality throughout production.

Identify and troubleshoot quality concerns, making approved program adjustments and documenting changes.

Support part inspections, cross-checks, and dimensional verification using optical, tactile, 3D, surface, and other measuring equipment.

Complete production documentation, process records, and change order documentation accurately.

Ensure quality standards are followed.

Continuous Improvement & Safety

Identify and participate in Continuous Improvement (CIP) initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.

Follow all company management systems, safety regulations, and quality standards.

Maintain a clean, organized, and 6S-compliant work area that is always tour-ready.

Other Duties

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational school diploma highly preferred

At least 3 ½ years of experience as a setup operator required

Required Skills / Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to understand units of measure and record information

Must read, understand and follow documented procedures and instructions

Have operational experience with saws, drilling, lathes and milling machines tool and light hand tools.

Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues that arise during the manufacturing process

Must be able to read and understand technical drawings

Reliability and quality awareness.

Must be willing to travel to the German Headquarters

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work in noisy environments.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Ability to bend, stretch, squat, and climb to access all parts of the machine.

Ability to perform manipulation of machine tools and parts

Ability to see close vision, depth perception and adjust focus

Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Ability to work in a fast-past environment and handle multiple tasks
