Recreation Specialist

This vacancy is for a GS - 0188 - 9, Recreation Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, BASE CAPE COD MORALE WELL-BEING and RECREATION DIVISION in BUZZARDS BAY, Massachusetts.

Major duties

You will serve as a Recreation Specialist and be responsible for developing and implementing various recreation and athletic activities for gymnasiums, weight rooms, swimming pools, tennis courts, fitness jogging trails and athletic fields. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Plans the recreation center program within established Coast Guard policy and objectives. Adapts and varies program activities in light of findings, and to ensure maximum possible achievement of program objective to provide the Coast Guard community with enhanced recreation activities.. Solicits volunteer and part-time paid services for activities which could not be scheduled without such assistance For a recreation center program, develops periodic program plans and annual budget requirements with supporting data for inclusion in overall program plans formulated at higher organizational levels. Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Experience in planning and coordinating recreational programs and activities. Experience in evaluating recreational programs and recommending improvements. Experience in developing program plans, budgets, and managing volunteer staff. OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree (major in general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreation (e.g., senior citizens, institutional, etc.); or physical education).
