Education:
Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
Work site environment:
Outdoors. Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Dirty.
Tasks:
- Interpret welding process specifications.
- Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment.
- Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes.
- Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications.
- Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
- Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines.
- Fit, braze and torch-straighten metal.
- Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products.
- Operate previously set-up brazing or soldering machines to bond metal or to fill holes, indentations and seams of metal.
- Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipment.
Experience:
1 to less than 7 months.

- Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers .
Support for mature workers:
- Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports mature workers .
- Applies hiring policies that discourage age discrimination .
- Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for mature workers .
- Offers phased re-entry options for mature workers who are returning to work after retiring (for example: gradually increasing hours and responsibilities) .
Supports for visible minorities:
- Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports members of visible minorities.
- Applies hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities (for example: anonymizing the hiring process, etc.).
