SUPERVISORY TECHNICIAN

You will serve as a Branch Head in either Code 895 OR Code 897 in the Engineering and Operations Division of CARDEROCK DIV NS. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 and GS-14.

Major duties

• You will be responsible for the Operation of Carderock Test Facilities and Experimental Programs Conducted on the Carderock Facilities.
• (Position 897 only) You will have the ability to supervise the application of specialized methods and techniques to accomplish improved processes associated with manufacturing experimental models.
• You will have the ability to manage and balance resources to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of shop operations.
• (895 only) You will maintain, repair and operate hydromechanics facilities, with deep knowledge of 50%+ of: Carriages 1, 2, 3, 5; Circulating Water Channel; 140' Basin; MASK; Rotating Arm; 36", 24", 12" Water Tunnels; and Subsonic Wind Tunnel.
• (Position 895 only) You will provide operational and electrical support to engineers conducting experimental model testing. Will be responsible for managing or monitoring any activities that occur in building 4, 5, 7, 16 and 18.
• You will know industrial systems, operate cranes, material handling gear and vehicles. Adherence to safety laws, rules and Division policies is required.
• You will handle timekeeping and admin. You will manage daily Branch operations, including safety, EEO, personnel, hiring, training, mentoring, security, IT, budgeting, and procurement.
• (Position 895 only) You will have knowledge of best practices related to electrical control systems and powering equipment. Incumbent will have knowledge of experimental model testing and support functions required to conduct experimental test.
• (Position 895 only) You will have skills and experience in implementing and managing electrical maintenance, repair, and upgrades of technical testing facilities.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-4 (GS-11/12) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: directing technical teams and resolving operational problems by applying engineering best practices to [895 position: electrical control, power distribution, and industrial machinery systems to execute maintenance, repairs, and instrumentation calibrations] or [897 position: model fabrication] across complex hydromechanics test facilities and experimental modeling environments.
