About the company

MTM Ship Management is a Singapore-headquartered ship manager with offices in Singapore, Mumbai, Yangon and Manila, looking after a global fleet of vessels. Our IT team keeps both the offices and the ships running, and a large part of that work happens over satellite links in the middle of the ocean.

Your tasks

  • Provide day-to-day IT support to staff across our global offices and to vessels in the fleet, mainly through remote support
  • Troubleshoot vessel connectivity issues across VSAT, LEO services and backup links, and work with satellite service providers to get problems resolved
  • Support onboard IT equipment such as ship's office PCs, servers, network devices and crew internet setups
  • Administer Microsoft 365 and Entra ID accounts, endpoints and user access in line with company policies
  • Help maintain office network and security tools, including firewalls, endpoint protection and secure remote access
  • Support vessel cyber security requirements and help gather evidence for audits and inspections such as TMSA, class surveys and financial IT controls reviews
  • Look after IT asset records, device setup and replacement, and keep documentation and procedures up to date

Requirements

We are looking for an IT professional who already understands how shipping works and wants to grow with a small team where you will see the whole picture, from office infrastructure to onboard systems to cyber security and audits. The title will be matched to your experience.

What we are looking for

  • Diploma or degree in IT, Computer Science or a related field
  • 1 to 3 years of IT experience in the marine or shipping industry (ship management, shipowner, satcom provider or maritime IT vendor)
  • A working understanding of satellite communications: how VSAT and LEO services like Starlink and OneWeb differ, what affects bandwidth and latency, how onboard terminals and failover links are set up, and how to troubleshoot when a vessel drops offline
  • Good knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365 and basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewall rules)
  • Awareness of maritime cybersecurity expectations such as IMO MSC-FAL.1/Circ.3 or IACS UR E26/E27 is an advantage
  • Comfortable dealing with masters, chief engineers and superintendents, and able to explain technical issues in plain language
  • Able to support urgent vessel issues outside office hours when needed, since ships operate across time zones
  • Certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+, CCNA, Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Azure (e.g.AZ-900, AZ-104) are a plus but not required

What we offer

You will be part of a strong team where your work is visible and your ideas get heard. You will get hands-on exposure to shore and vessel IT, satellite connectivity, cyber security and audit work, a combination few roles in the industry offer.
