Sales Manager [High-Risk, Payments, Asia]
Accountabilities Drive merchant acquisition: Identify, approach, and acquire new merchants operating in high-risk industries across Asian markets, building a consistent pipeline of qualified business opportunities.
Develop sales opportunities: Generate leads through direct outreach, strategic partnerships, professional networking, industry events, and other relevant business development channels.
Build merchant relationships: Establish and maintain long-term commercial relationships with merchants in sectors such as gambling, betting, cryptocurrency, forex, and other high-risk verticals.
Present payment solutions: Understand merchant requirements and demonstrate relevant payment processing solutions, highlighting their value, flexibility, and suitability for specific business models.
Negotiate commercial agreements: Lead commercial discussions, negotiate terms, and structure mutually beneficial agreements that support merchant growth and business profitability.
Assess payment requirements: Analyze merchant needs related to local payment methods, transaction conversion rates, processing volumes, settlement arrangements, and regional payment preferences.
Coordinate cross-functional execution: Collaborate with Business Development and Payment Operations teams to develop competitive proposals, address merchant requirements, and deliver suitable payment solutions.
Manage merchant onboarding: Coordinate the onboarding process with internal stakeholders, resolve operational challenges, and support successful merchant activation and the start of processing activities.
Monitor market developments: Track payment industry trends, competitor offerings, emerging opportunities, and regulatory or market changes relevant to regional business development.
Expand regional market presence: Identify promising markets, merchant segments, and partnership opportunities to support geographical expansion and portfolio diversification.
Achieve commercial targets: Deliver against agreed merchant acquisition, revenue, and payment processing volume objectives while maintaining strong relationships and a healthy sales pipeline.
Requirements
Relevant sales experience: At least 2 years of B2B sales experience in fintech, payment service providers (PSPs), payment gateways, or high-risk payment processing.
Knowledge of Asian payment markets: Practical understanding of Asian payment ecosystems, regional business practices, and local payment methods, with the ability to identify solutions suited to different markets.
High-risk merchant expertise: Previous experience selling payment processing solutions to merchants in high-risk industries, with an understanding of their commercial needs and operational challenges.
Established industry network: An existing network of merchant contacts or commercial relationships in one or more Asian markets is a strong advantage.
Payments industry knowledge: Understanding of payment processing, acquiring, alternative payment methods (APMs), transaction conversion, processing volumes, and settlement requirements.
Sales and negotiation skills: Strong prospecting, presentation, persuasion, and negotiation abilities, with a proven capacity to convert opportunities into commercial agreements.
Relationship management: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish trust, maintain long-term partnerships, and work effectively with diverse international stakeholders.
Commercial mindset: A results-oriented approach, strong business acumen, and the ability to identify revenue opportunities, prioritize prospects, and consistently work toward sales targets.
Market research and analytical skills: Ability to assess competitive offerings, understand merchant requirements, and identify growth opportunities across different geographical markets.
Cross-functional collaboration: Ability to coordinate effectively with business development and payment operations teams to support tailored proposals, onboarding, and merchant activation.
Language proficiency: Upper-intermediate English or higher is required. Knowledge of relevant Asian languages is an additional advantage.
