Accountabilities: The Engagement Architect will own client engagements from initial contract execution through successful delivery, ensuring cloud environments are architected, secured, validated, and transitioned into ongoing operations. This role requires strong technical leadership, project ownership, and the ability to balance security requirements with business objectives.

Lead end-to-end client engagements, including cloud environment builds, security control implementation, automated evidence pipelines, and transition into managed operations.

Apply and adapt reference architectures based on certification requirements, cloud platforms, and client application environments.

Oversee implementation of security controls and automation processes that continuously validate compliance requirements.

Coordinate engineering teams responsible for identity management, monitoring, change management, networking, and other cloud capabilities.

Manage project milestones, risks, technical decisions, and quality checkpoints to ensure successful delivery.

Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients by leading architecture discussions, technical workshops, and solution reviews.

Document architecture decisions, technical processes, and implementation outcomes to improve future delivery standards.

Ensure all required controls are implemented, tested, validated, and ready for operational handoff.

Travel approximately 10–25% based on client engagement requirements.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will bring extensive cloud architecture experience, strong cybersecurity knowledge, and proven success leading technical delivery for external clients. This position requires a combination of hands-on engineering skills, compliance expertise, and excellent communication abilities.

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

8+ years of experience in cloud engineering or architecture, including at least 3 years leading technical delivery for external customers.

Experience leading FedRAMP authorization efforts or comparable regulated cloud environments such as DoD impact levels, StateRAMP, PCI, or HIPAA.

Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code, identity and access management, logging, monitoring, and cloud networking across AWS, Azure, or GCP platforms.

Strong understanding of cloud security architecture, compliance frameworks, and regulated environments.

Professional-level certification in AWS, Azure, or GCP required.

Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively with engineers, executives, project stakeholders, and compliance assessors.

Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Experience creating technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and written implementation guidance.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.

Strong judgment in evaluating scope, risks, technical trade-offs, and escalation needs.

U.S. citizenship preferred due to support of federal compliance programs.

Preferred qualifications include:

Experience with FedRAMP 20x, Key Security Indicators (KSIs), OSCAL, JSON, or machine-readable compliance artifacts.

Familiarity with fixed-price delivery models or productized consulting engagements.

Additional certifications such as CISSP or advanced cloud security certifications.

Knowledge of CIS Benchmarks, DISA STIGs, FedRAMP, FISMA, HITRUST, HIPAA, or PCI frameworks.
