SQL DBA – Banking Sector

Your Mission

As a Database Engineer within our Database Team, you will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and operational excellence of database and reporting platforms supporting critical banking applications.

You will play a key role in ensuring that our database environments are highly available, secure, performant, and scalable, while collaborating closely with infrastructure and development teams.

Role

Your Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain highly available and scalable database systems aligned with business and regulatory requirements
• Ensure smooth operation, maintenance, and upgrades of database platforms (backups, transaction logs, indexing, performance tuning, etc.)
• Contribute to deployment and patching automation initiatives
• Participate actively in IT Operations (on-call/operational duties approximately 1 day per week)
• Review and validate database schema changes, ensuring compliance with standards and optimal design choices
• Investigate and resolve performance issues and functional incidents in collaboration with application teams
• Maintain and improve deployment pipelines and promote best practices across teams
• Build strong working relationships with infrastructure, security, and development teams

Profile

Technical Skills & Experience

• Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and its internals
• Strong knowledge of:
• Microsoft Active Directory
• Power BI / Report Server
• SSAS
• Microsoft Cluster Services
• Windows Server (including WSUS and vulnerability management tools such as Nexpose)
• Windows Server–based schedulers
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting
• Experience with PKI (Microsoft Certificate Authority Services)
• Strong understanding of server and client security
• Solid knowledge of Linux (RedHat)
• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible and PowerShell
• Ability to analyze system stress (CPU, IOPS, memory, indexing, cache hits) and propose concrete improvements
• Familiarity with HP and Supermicro servers, including iLO management
• Experience with Git, JIRA, and Confluence

Soft Skills

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly
• Curious mindset and eagerness to stay up to date with emerging technologies
• Fluent in English, with good knowledge of French or Dutch
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Flexible, reliable, and available when needed
• Interest in cloud technologies and future evolutions
• Clean certificate of good conduct
• B driving license

Nice to Have (Assets)

• Experience with VMware vCenter and ESXi
• Knowledge of backup solutions (e.g. Commvault)
• Basic networking knowledge
• Basic Linux system administration
• Familiarity with Go (Golang)
• Exposure to Azure technologies (Azure Entra ID, AI services)
