You'll help drive forward our Cloud strategy and deliverables in the SecDevOps space, engaging with teams across Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, and Product to add strength both inside and outside the core team. Every project moving into Cloud passes through the Cloud Engineering team, making this a highly visible, high-impact role. Based in Colombo, you'll add depth in-region and act as a trusted senior engineer across build, run, and ongoing modernisation initiatives — including our data centre exit and wider Cloud uplift.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Act as a senior, hands-on engineer in designing, building, and operating systems within the team's scope. - Design and manage cloud infrastructure in Microsoft Azure, with a strong focus on Landing Zone architecture and governance. - Build, deploy, and operate containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes. - Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform to enable consistent, repeatable deployments. - Implement and support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub, and manage source code through Git. - Design and maintain scalable search and analytics solutions using Elasticsearch. - Develop automation scripts using Bash or PowerShell to streamline operational tasks. - Contribute to system tooling and automation using a programming language such as Python or Golang. - Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability using tools such as Prometheus or New Relic. - Ensure systems meet standards for reliability, performance, security, compliance, and recoverability. - Take ownership of systems across their lifecycle (build and run), including incident response and root cause analysis. - Design and maintain reusable infrastructure patterns and self-service modules for development teams. - Plan and implement system changes using structured change control and deployment practices. - Maintain and validate backup, recovery, and resilience mechanisms. - Identify risks, bottlenecks, and technical debt, and drive continuous improvement. - Collaborate with Software Engineers, QA Engineers, and Platform Engineers to align systems with business and application needs. - Actively adopt and champion AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g. Claude Code, Cowork) to accelerate delivery and improve quality — reducing instability, errors, and lead times — while helping the wider team upskill. - Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in systems engineering and operations. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Essential - 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, platform engineering, or a related field. - Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure, including Landing Zone design and implementation. - Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (AKS) and Docker in production environments. - Proven experience using Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management. - Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, and Git for CI/CD and version control. - Proficiency in scripting using Bash or PowerShell. - Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus or New Relic. - Strong understanding of system reliability, security, compliance, and operational risk management. - Experience operating and supporting business-critical production systems. - Ability to automate, optimise, and scale systems effectively. - Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and trade-offs clearly. - Ability to work independently with accountability and sound judgement. - A mindset for adopting AI tooling to accelerate and improve engineering delivery. Nice to have - Solid experience working with Elasticsearch. - Working knowledge of at least one programming language such as Python or Golang. - Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) experience. - Background in FSI, Energy & Utilities, RegTech, or Professional Services. WHY JOIN - High impact, high visibility: All Cloud projects flow through this team — your work directly shapes delivery across the business. - Modernisation at scale: Work across a rich, evolving stack — Azure, GitHub Enterprise, Terraform, Kubernetes, Fabric, Foundry, ADF, Synapse, Elasticsearch, AI Search — plus AI-assisted engineering with Claude Code & Cowork. - Meaningful initiatives: Contribute to our data centre exit, Cloud uplift and strategy, and other key programmes. - Career progression: A clear path from Senior Platform Engineer to Lead Platform Engineer, including people-management responsibilities. - Upskilling: Space and support to grow in areas of your interest within the role.
