Native Mobile Engineer (iOS/Android/Huawei)

Position overview

We are building native mobile apps for iOS, Android, and Huawei—not hybrid apps—with feature parity to the web platform and its member and loyalty experience. The apps use the same content and integration APIs as the website.

We are hiring at least one senior iOS engineer and one senior Android engineer. Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) capability can be part of the Android engineer’s role. Please assess iOS and Android candidates against the relevant platform requirements below.

Key responsibilities

• Build native apps: iOS apps in Swift for the latest two operating system versions, supporting portrait and tablet or landscape layouts; and Android apps in Kotlin for the latest three operating system versions. Support Huawei AppGallery distribution and HMS push notifications where required.
• Implement core journeys, including search and booking or commerce, self-service flows, mobile passes or tickets with Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, document scanning and upload, and calendar sync.
• Deliver member and loyalty profiles and features at parity with the website.
• Implement push and in-app notifications, geolocation, and offline access to static content. Smartwatch companion apps are optional.
• Use content and integration APIs through the integration layer, and integrate mobile analytics.
• Meet performance targets, including app startup in under two seconds, optimized app size, and crash-rate reporting.
• Manage distribution through the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Huawei AppGallery, including localized metadata and screenshots. Additional regional stores are optional.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• At least five years of native mobile development experience.
• Senior-level Swift or Kotlin expertise. Specify which platform you lead on.
• Strong REST or GraphQL API integration skills.
• Experience with push infrastructure, such as APNs or FCM.
• Experience publishing and maintaining apps in production app stores.

Nice to have

• Experience with HMS and AppGallery, especially for the Android role.
• Experience building multilingual apps and supporting right-to-left languages, including Arabic.
• Experience integrating Apple Wallet or Google Wallet passes.
• Experience with high-traffic transactional, travel, or commerce apps.
• Cross-platform familiarity is welcome, but the apps are native. Candidates with only cross-platform experience may be a weaker fit.
