The Opportunity We're working with a growing and forward-thinking accountancy practice looking to add a Trainee Accountant / Accounts Assistant to their team. This opportunity would suit someone with around 2-3 years' experience within an accountancy practice who is keen to continue developing their technical skills, progress their studies and build a long-term career in accountancy. Whether you're currently studying AAT and looking to progress onto ACCA or ACA, or you're already part-qualified, this firm is committed to investing in the right person. Alongside a comprehensive study support package, you'll gain valuable hands-on experience across a diverse client portfolio and receive ongoing mentoring from experienced professionals. The Role Joining an established accounts team, you'll work with a broad range of clients across multiple sectors, supporting the delivery of high-quality accounting services while developing your own technical knowledge and client exposure. Key responsibilities will include: Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies Producing working papers and supporting schedules Bookkeeping and reviewing client records Preparing and submitting VAT returns Assisting with corporation tax and personal tax computations Supporting the production of management accounts Communicating directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries Working with cloud-based accounting software including Xero and QuickBooks Assisting senior team members with more complex assignments Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed timescales As your experience and qualifications develop, you'll be given greater responsibility, increased client exposure and the opportunity to manage your own portfolio of work. About You We're looking to speak with individuals who: Have around 2-3 years' experience within an accountancy practice Are studying AAT, ACCA or ACA, or are already part-qualified Are committed to becoming a qualified accountant Have experience preparing accounts and working with bookkeeping records Possess a good understanding of VAT and basic tax principles Are confident communicating with clients and colleagues Have strong attention to detail and take pride in producing accurate work Can manage competing deadlines effectively Are comfortable using accounting software and Microsoft Office Have a proactive approach and a genuine willingness to learn Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a supportive team Study Support & Career Development This role offers a clear pathway towards becoming a qualified accountant.
