Social Worker - Safeguarding Team - S42 Triage
Liquid Personnel is recruiting Adult Social Worker for its client's Safeguarding Team (S42 Triage) in Somerset.
Our client, based in Somerset, is seeking an experienced Adult Social Worker to join their Safeguarding Team, with a focus on Section 42 (S42) triage and enquiries. This role sits at the front end of safeguarding, where you will be responsible for screening, triaging, and progressing safeguarding concerns in line with statutory duties. You will work with a range of vulnerable adults, ensuring timely, proportionate, and defensible decision-making to protect individuals at risk of abuse or neglect.
What will your responsibilities be?
Triaging incoming safeguarding concerns and determining whether they meet the threshold for a Section 42 enquiry under the Care Act 2014
Undertaking and co-ordinating Section 42 safeguarding enquiries, ensuring they are completed in a timely and proportionate manner
Gathering, analysing and evaluating information to inform risk assessments and decision-making
Working closely with partner agencies (e.g. police, health services, providers and the CQC) to ensure effective multi-agency safeguarding responses
Making defensible decisions regarding risk, capacity and safeguarding outcomes, ensuring the adult’s voice remains central to all intervention
Completing Mental Capacity Assessments where appropriate and contributing to Best Interests decision-making processes
Identifying immediate risks and taking appropriate action to safeguard adults at risk of abuse or neglect
Ensuring safeguarding plans are person-centred, outcome-focused and proportionate to risk
Maintaining accurate, timely and high-quality case records, reports and decision logs, in line with organisational and legal requirements
Contributing to strategy discussions, safeguarding meetings and case conferences
Applying professional curiosity to ensure all risks are appropriately explored and managed
Working within a fast-paced duty/triage environment, managing competing priorities effectively
Qualifications & Experience:
To be successful in this role you must have,
Professional Qualification:
MA, BA, BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work or CQSW
Registration:
Must be registered with Social Work England
Experience:
Minimum 2 years’ post-qualified experience, including completion of ASYE
Strong experience within Adult Safeguarding, including conducting or co-ordinating Section 42 enquiries
Experience working in a triage or front-door safeguarding service is highly desirable
Experience managing risk and complex safeguarding cases
Experience of multi-agency working in safeguarding contexts
Legislation Knowledge:
Strong working knowledge of:
Care Act 2014 (particularly safeguarding duties under Section 42)
Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA)
Human Rights Act 1998 (HRA)
Safeguarding Adults procedures and frameworks
Skills
Strong analytical, assessment and decision-making skills, particularly within safeguarding
Ability to identify and manage risk effectively in high-pressure situations
Confidence in making defensible safeguarding decisions
Excellent communication and partnership-working skills
Ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced triage environment
High standard of written recording and report writing
Demonstrates professional curiosity, resilience and sound judgement
Other Requirements
Full UK driving licence and access to a car is desirable
