Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on Compass Health Center when in crisis – every day, we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.

About This Role

The Medical Intake Coordinator is responsible for the medical registration of new patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary team members to communicate patient health information that requires treatment planning and/or further medical consultation.

Our location in Northbrook is our first and largest facility, and consists not only of our widest variety of programs, but also serves as a pilot site for many of our new treatment offerings.

What You'll Do:

Manages the medical registration process of patients entering the healthcare facility

Provides administrative support to the Nursing Department and Psychiatry Department

Collects and documents intake information such as medication and health history

Communicates and collaborates with the nursing team regarding intake information

Collects and documents of vital signs, height, weight

Drafting medical documentation and lab orders under the direction of the psychiatry provider

Transcribing medical information to patient’s charts & communicating pertinent information to the treatment team

Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patient, family, and client facility staff.

Provides supplementary assistance with infection control and prevention measures

Medication, medical supply, and equipment inventory

Initiating Prior Authorizations for medications and diagnostic tests

Participates in professional development activities

All other duties within the scope of training as assigned by the Director of Nursing

Consults with:

Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, Program Directors, Staff Therapists, Staff Nurses, and Administrative Staff

Who You Are:

Exceptional interpersonal and therapeutic communication skills

Robust organizational and time management skills, with noteworthy attention to detail

Team player with adaptiveness and agility

Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy (highly preferred)

Medical Assistant (preferred)

Current CPR certification (preferred)

Working knowledge of pharmaceuticals (preferred)

Experience in mental health care (preferred)

Physical Requirements

Often required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach forward with hands and arms.

Occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch.

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Schedule

this is a full-time position Monday through Friday, with primary hours of 10:00am-6:00pm

Schedule flexibility given patient and program needs

This range includes multiple career path levels across the organization; where you fall in the range is dependent upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, your years of experience, type of experience, location, and education/certifications. Compass reserves the right to update these ranges.

Compensation $20 — $23 USD
