Security Guard

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. It is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.

Major duties

• Monitor installation access in accordance with Army regulations.
• Prevent unauthorized access to highly restrictive areas.
• Exercise specialized operating requirements to detect threats.
• Assist in the maintenance of law and order when necessary.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes working with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; maintaining order and protecting life; applying protective techniques and use of protective systems. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
