Healthcare Assistant (HCA) Jobs

Location: County Limerick

Salary: €14.50 per hour

Job Summary

We are recruiting Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) to provide person-centred care in residential healthcare settings across Ireland. Working under the supervision of nursing and management staff, you will support residents with daily living activities while ensuring dignity, safety, and wellbeing at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with daily living needs, including dressing, bathing, grooming, eating, walking, and exercise.
  • Serve meals, support with feeding, and complete follow-up cleaning duties.
  • Deliver care in line with policies and procedures, respecting privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Establish positive, respectful relationships with residents that encourage independence.
  • Work collaboratively with the care team, recognising and supporting the skills of colleagues.
  • Comply with Health & Safety and infection control standards.
  • Report any ill-health, incidents, or accidents promptly to nursing staff.
  • Answer call bells and telephones, passing on accurate messages.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and tidiness within the household.
  • Protect vulnerable adults from abuse and uphold safeguarding standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Support new staff and volunteers by offering help and guidance.
  • Contribute to a warm, homely, and respectful environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support (or equivalent)
  • Previous care experience desirable but not essential
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team
  • Patience, compassion, and commitment to person-centred care
