As a Client Portfolio Manager, you will lead a compact team to deliver financial operations solutions to your client portfolio. In this role, you will drive client relationships, ensure quality delivery across your portfolio, and continuously improve how your team operates.

Your primary purpose is to bring financial clarity and peace of mind to small businesses so they can focus on their passions and grow with confidence.

You will be a "builder," creating and proving out a new team model. This role requires a challenger mindset and a comfort with ambiguity, as you will operate without a fully mapped playbook, making judgment calls and iterating as the model evolves.

Core Responsibilities

Own and deliver client work across your portfolio, working directly alongside associates to ensure quality, coordinate priorities, and meet deadlines.

Lead and develop associates , setting clear expectations, balancing workloads, and building their skills and autonomy. You will provide ongoing coaching and resources.

Serve as the primary escalation point for client issues, providing context and solutions to leadership when needed. You will lead the mitigation and resolution of issues identified within your team.

Document and refine emerging practices , turning lessons learned into repeatable processes that can scale.

Act as a bridge between strategy and execution —test, learn, and share insights to improve the pilot and inform broader adoption.

Success in This Role Looks Like

Stable Client Portfolio: The portfolio maintains high retention, satisfied clients, and minimal escalations.

Growing Team: Your associates are confident, supported, and increasing in autonomy due to your active coaching and delegation.

Efficient Operations: Work is balanced, and new practices are documented and shared to inform how future teams are structured and scaled.

Adaptable Leadership: You embrace ambiguity, make sound decisions, and model adaptability for your team.

Proactive Communication: Leadership receives proactive, solution-oriented updates that provide clarity and frame escalations with at least one proposed solution.

Curious by nature – asks “why?” often, digs into processes, and looks for better ways of doing things.

Challenger mindset – doesn’t just maintain the current way of working; actively questions the status quo and suggests alternatives.

Comfortable with ambiguity – operates without a fully mapped playbook, makes judgment calls, and adjusts as the model evolves.

Skills & Experience

Client-facing confidence – strong communicator who can manage relationships across a portfolio and set clear expectations.

Coaching ability – helps associates grow into higher ownership roles; builds a small, resilient team culture.

Organizational agility – skilled at prioritizing across multiple clients, reallocating work, and balancing team load.

Mindset & Leadership Style

Treats the pilot as a builder’s role , not just a manager’s — creating and proving out a model.

Willing to test, learn, and iterate , knowing not every idea will stick.

Acts as a bridge between strategy and execution , keeping leadership informed while protecting associates from excess noise.
