Job Title: Clinical or Counselling Psychologist – Palliative Care (Oncology)

Banding: Band 7 / 8a

Location: West Midlands

Working Hours: 3 days per week

Salary: Competitive hourly rate (Band‑aligned)

Locum Clinical or Counselling Psychologist – Palliative Care (Oncology)

This locum opportunity places you at the heart of specialist oncology and palliative care service in the West Midlands. You will join a compassionate multidisciplinary team, offering psychological expertise that truly shapes patient experience - the post is available ASAP until the end of September.

Responsibilities

Deliver specialist psychological assessments for individuals referred to the service, tailoring your approach to their unique needs.

Provide evidence‑based interventions including ACT, CFT and CBT to support patients, carers and families as they navigate diagnosis, treatment and end‑of‑life challenges.

Work collaboratively with MDT colleagues

Offer consultation and reflective support to staff managing complex emotional presentations.

Maintain high‑quality clinical records in line with professional standards.

Qualifications & Experience

HCPC registration as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist

Desirable: Experience within palliative care, oncology, health psychology, adult mental health or other emotionally complex clinical settings is highly valued

Confidence working autonomously and collaboratively within MDT environments

Newly qualified psychologists or those without direct oncology experience are still encouraged to apply — transferable skills are welcomed
