QUANTITY: 1 JOB TYPE: CONTRACT Job Information Field Detail Job Title Electrical Engineer Organisation MAC Engineering Location Obuasi-KMS Job Type Contract Skill Type Professional Duration of the Contract 1 year-Subject to Renewal Performance Criteria Main Purpose (Role): The Electrical Engineer is responsible for overseeing the inspection, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical infrastructure and systems across surface and underground operations, maximising equipment reliability, minimising downtime, improving availability, and ensuring all maintenance activities comply with engineering standards, statutory regulations, and mine safety procedures. Key Performance Area’s (Responsibilities): Oversee PM and corrective maintenance of underground E&I infrastructure, transformers, switchgear, HV/MV/LV panels, and substations.Perform and analyse Insulation Resistance Testing of cables and motors.Diagnose and repair faults in motors, drives, and protection systems (VFDs, contactors, soft starters).Ensure operational integrity of critical pump motors, conveyor drives, and fans.Implement and interpret condition monitoring, including thermographic scanning of switchgear and busbars.Maintain protection coordination and electrical safety systems.Prepare maintenance reports, test records, and engineering documentation.Support commissioning, upgrades, and integration of electrical systems.Participate in risk assessments, toolbox meetings, and safety audits.Support continuous improvement to increase electrical reliability and availability. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical & Maintenance) with 3–5 years of relevant experience OR Diploma in Engineering (Electrical & Maintenance) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Essential / Advantageous Essential Mandatory: Sectional Engineer or Inspecting Engineer Certificate of Competence from the Inspectorate Division of the Mineral Commission (IDMC). Essential Technical Competencies Proficient in electrical maintenance of transformers, switchgear, MV/LV panels, motors, drives, and protection systems; insulation resistance testing; thermographic condition monitoring; and fault diagnosis in mining and industrial environments. Memberships Professional Membership Required Essential / Advantageous Professional Engineer (PE) license from the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) or IET-GH. Essential Advantageous Experience Job Related Experience Required Time Span Essential / Advantageous Minimum of 3 years in engineering roles, preferably in the mining industry.
