Laboratory Assistant

Job Title: Laboratory Assistant X 2

Location: Reading (RG6 6LA) Rate: £17.59ph Umbrella (Inside IR35) Employment Type: Contract (28/02/2027) Hours: Standard 36 Hours Per Week, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm Reference: K1203

Responsibilities:

Technical

1. Provide high quality customer service at all times by ensuring effective organisation of assigned workload, integrity of analytical data generated and timely/accurate provision of results.
2. Perform a range of basic routine tasks and sample preparation under supervision of a senior member of staff.
3. Operate basic lab equipment as directed.
4. Prepare for laboratory tasks using the appropriate scientific techniques, procedures and methods
5. Perform laboratory tasks following specified methodologies, such as Standard Operating Procedures.
6. Use of specified instrumentation and laboratory equipment, including calibration where required.
7. Produce reliable, accurate data and keep accurate records of laboratory work undertaken and results.
8. Analyse, interpret and evaluate data and identify results requiring further investigation seeking advice of senior colleagues as appropriate.
9. Be competent in the use of generic and specific software packages required for the role: Laboratory’s LIMS system, Q-Pulse, etc
10. Provide training in routine activities.
11. Perform Lab admin and housekeeping duties as directed.
12. Will be expected to work in different laboratories if the demand is required.

1. Work to the highest standards of safety and quality by ensuring that appropriate COSHHs, risk assessments and SOPs are understood and followed.
2. To complete assigned quality actions on a timely manner

4. To understand and work to the requirements of UKAS.
5. Ensure training records are accurate.

Qualifications:

Educated to A / HNC level in a relevant scientific discipline
