PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST
You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the US NAVAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
Major duties
- You will oversees a team of professionals and work collaboratively across departments to ensure consistent, creative, and impactful messaging that advances the mission and goals of the college.
- You will oversee marketing initiatives across digital, print, and media platforms, ensuring consistent, compelling, and relevant messaging to engage prospective students, current students, alumni, and the broader naval enlisted community.
- You will implement comprehensive marketing strategies and direct marketing campaigns that utilize direct email, social media, community messaging, and other forms of digital communications that drive student inquiry and application.
- You will collaborate with Enrollment Services, Academic Affairs, and Student Success to align marketing initiatives with institutional priorities.
- You will be responsible for shaping and protecting the college's public image, ensuring consistent and effective messaging, and fostering strong relationships with students, employees, media, and community stakeholders.
- You will collaborate across multiple internal constituencies to administer and maintain the content on the USNCC website.
- You will analyze data to identify target audiences, track trends, and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and communications campaigns.
- You will use data to prioritize marketing and communications efforts that have a direct impact on student enrollment and retention.
- You will provide regular reports and insights on marketing performance to USNCC leadership.
- You will optimize the institution's digital content strategy to ensure prominent and accurate brand representation within AI-driven search results and large language model (LLM) platforms.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Directing comprehensive public affairs and strategic communications programs that engage students, faculty, staff, alumni, media, and the general public, increasing stakeholder engagement and positive brand visibility; 2) Creating a wide array of public information products, including press releases, feature articles, web content, social media campaigns, and critical executive communications, speeches, and talking points for senior leadership to ensure consistent institutional messaging; 3) Spearheading targeted, data-driven marketing campaigns designed to drive enrollment and engagement among specific target populations, including military personnel and veterans, increasing program inquiries and direct applications; 4) Advising senior academic leadership and executive officials on high-stakes public affairs, strategic communications, crisis management, and media relations, serving as the principal coordinator for all major press inquiries and public responses; and 5) Utilizing analytics to track engagement trends and adapt content to meet evolving information-access habits of a globally dispersed target audience.
