About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and childcare available. Mass transportation is available at minimal cost. Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities.

Major duties

  • Responsible for overseeing and managing the administrative responsibilities inherent to supply management.
  • Directs work force to accomplish daily, weekly, monthly, and annual workload.
  • Conduct mid-point reviews and annual performance appraisals.
  • Review, resolve and/or refer employee problems.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Specialized experience at GS-12: Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as 1) Evaluating logistics operating procedures; 2) Managing day-to-day operations of a supply logistics program; 3) Providing technical advice regarding supply logistics operations, procedures, and quality standards; 4) Evaluating subordinate employees' work performance; and 5) Identifying developmental and training needs of employees. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
